Job Duties

  • Christie joined Faculty Affairs in November of 2024 as the Executive Assistant to the Associate Provost for Faculty Advocacy, Dr. Claire Katz.

    She earned her Master of Arts in English from the University of New Orleans in 2019, and there she remained, teaching Composition as an Instructor with the Department of Language and Literature. She served as the Associate Chair for the Department of Language and Literature from 2022 through 2024. Before entering the world of higher education, she taught eighth grade ELA, ninth grade English, and dance classes for eighth through twelfth grade. She has also worked for the U.S. Forest Service, taught geriatric yoga and elementary ballet, and driven a school bus. Though a native of East Texas, she has lived in seven different states, including Alaska.

    Her areas of interest are: Speculative Fiction, liminality, Literature of the Southern U.S. (specifically of the Gulf Coast Region), and pedagogies of Literature and Composition. In her spare time, she reads, writes poetry and short stories, enjoys being in nature, and spends time with her husband and dog.
