The purpose of the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators of The Texas A&M University System is to honor faculty members who have significant impact on the preparation of teachers in the field of education. A nominee for the Chancellor’s Academy of Teacher Educators must be a full-time faculty member who works directly in the preparation of teachers (excluding deans and department heads). Academy members must have worked for the university for at least five or more consecutive years.
Selection Committee Makeup:
A selection committee will be developed at each university. Members of the committee will consist of deans and department heads from colleges involved in teacher preparation development. Once the first Academy cohort has been selected, Academy members will serve on the selection committee. Student representation on this committee is also encouraged. The committee will review the criteria materials (and may interview candidates) and make its recommendation to the university president or designee. The final recommendation will be made to Office of the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.
