Dr. Heather Wilkinson serves as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, where she oversees faculty and leadership development, faculty awards and recognition, faculty affairs communications, faculty-focused events, and the Neutral Facilitation Collaborative for faculty and staff. Over the past decade, she has developed programs and processes in these areas through a series of leadership roles, including Associate Dean of Faculties, Senior Associate Dean of Faculties, Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Associate Provost for Faculty Success, and now Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Wilkinson is a trained Appreciative Inquiry facilitator, Gallup CliftonStrengths Coach, certified Conflict and Change Management practitioner using the Thomas-Kilmann Instrument, Mediation Training Institute-certified workplace mediator and trainer, Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and certified Co-Active Leadership practitioner.
Dr. Wilkinson is also a Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Her prior service includes roles as Associate Department Head, Faculty Liaison to the Bioenvironmental Sciences Professional Board, Chair of the Curriculum Assessment Committee, and Graduate Advisor.
She holds a B.A. in Biology and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Boston University, as well as a Ph.D. in Biology from Binghamton University, State University of New York. Prior to joining Texas A&M University, she served as a Postdoctoral Scholar and Research Assistant Professor in Plant Pathology at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Wilkinson has spent her entire faculty career at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Wilkinson received The Association of Former Students College-Level Teaching Award in 2016. She has also participated in several leadership development programs, serving as a fellow in the SEC Advanced Leadership Development Program (2017-2018), the ADVANCE Administrative Fellows Program, the Provost Faculty Fellows Program, and the AgriLife Advanced Leadership Program.
