The Association of Former Students (AFS) Distinguished Achievement Awards honor Texas A&M University faculty and staff members in the areas of teaching, research, student relations, graduate mentoring, extension/outreach/continuing education/professional development, administration, and staff support.

Selection Committee Makeup

Each committee member will be assigned to a sub-committee by Faculty Affairs and will participate in the reading and evaluation of nomination packages and the selection of winners in that award category. 

Sub-committees will hold additional meetings, as needed, between the time of the initial meeting and the time that voting ballots are completed.  Electronic deliberations are permitted.

NOTE: Notify Selection Committee members before submitting names to Faculty Affairs to ensure willingness to serve and availability for the mandatory selection committee meeting (See Table 1 for sample timeline).

January 7, 2022
College/area coordinators submit award nominations to by 12 p.m.
January 13, 2022

Selection committee meeting 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Attendance MANDATORY for The Association of Former Students Distinguished Achievement Award committee members

March 7 - 21, 2022

Colleges/Areas must notify award recipients
No later than 5 p.m. March 21, 2022
March 22 - 25, 2022
Recipients names released to the University community and news media

April 2022
